Ven. Pallawela Rahula was ordained in 1958 and received his higher ordination in 1966. He had lived in England before he came to the USA in 1995. He had resided at Maithree Vihara and Dhamma Vijaya Vihara in Los Angeles before he was established at Buddhi Vihara. He is a well-respected senior monk in the USA.
Ven. Kahanda Amarabuddhi is the founder and the president of the Buddhivihara. He became a monk at the age of twelve. As a novice, he studied at Baddegama Ratanasara Pirivena and Gangarama Pirivena in Colombo. He received his BA Degree from University of Jayawardenapura in Sri Lanka. He served as a teacher at Perakumba Pirivena Kotte for nine years. Ven. Amarabddhi resided in Africa for two years and traveled in Asia and Europe to propagate Dhamma. Accepting the invitation of Ven. Uduwe Ratanapala, he came to the United States and established the Buddhi Vihara in 1997. The current premises of Buddhi Vihara was purchased under his leadership in 1999. Ven. Amarabuddhi was appointed as the chief Buddhist prelate of California in 2013 by the Malwattha Buddhist chapter in Sri Lanka.
Ven. Kotapola Chandima Thero was ordained in 2001. After receiving his basic education from the Sri Sangaratana International Buddhist Educational Institute, he entered Viddodaya Pirivena and earned the Royal Pandith degree, receiving the highest score in the country. At the age of 17, he was appointed as a qualified translator at Institute of National Education. He received his higher ordination in 2013. In 2014, he received a BA Degree . He is currently residing at the Buddhi Vihara.
